Anatomy of skin

WHY THE SKIN GETS EFFECTED
|
Understanding of Skin |
|
The skin is the largest and most visible organ
of the body. It also is one of the most complex
organ, because it has so much to do.
Skin is largest body organs both by weight and total
surface area. The average adult body has two square
yards of skin. In fact skin accounts for as much
as 16% of the body weight.
A one-inch square of skin contains millions of
cells as well as many special nerve endings for
sensing heat, cold, and pain.
The average thickness of skin is one tenth of an
inch, but it ranges from very thin on the eyelids
to thick on the soles of the feet.
The skin is the mirrors of the health of the whole
body. The skin is the largest organ of the body.
A radiant clear complexion begins with proper nutrition,
efficient digestion and assimilation of nutrients
by the body and regular elimination.
The skin consists of four distinct layers: the
epidermis, the basement membrane zone, the dermis
and the subcutaneous layer. The skin is an ever-changing
organ that contains many specialized cells and
structures. The skin functions as a protective
barrier that interfaces with a hostile environment.
The skin is the ultimate vessel for the human body;
it receives and transports, accepts and expels
according to the body's needs. It is container,
defender, regulator, breather, feeler, and adaptor.
As sturdy as it is, the skin requires attention
and maintenance to function properly. When the
complex organization of the skin breaks down, it
becomes susceptible to injury and disease.
The main job of the skin is to protect a person's
inside parts from the outside world.
Today s world external beauty matters to all as
much as internal health. Basic beauty begins with
the glow of good health, which shines from within.
The skin often mirrors the health of the whole
body.
It acts as a shield against sun, wind, heat, cold,
dryness, pollution, and smoke. It helps to protect
the body from germs and allergens In addition;
special nerve endings in the skin alert the brain
to heat, cold, and pain. Brain is in constant contact
of skin.
There are many other important functions that our
skin performs. Skin is exposed to a number of factors
such as pollution, physical stress, and weather
conditions.
- the lower most layer of the epidermis contains
melanocytes cells which produce pigment called
melanin.
- Our skin acts as a shield to our body. And
does not allow pathogens to invade the body
- It passes on senses, the temperature variations
, touch, pressure, injuries or any kind of vibrations
- It helps in controlling evaporation and does
not allow fluid loss. It protects the essential
nutrients and oils present in our body.
- Apart from this it also acts as a storage center
for water and lipids

Different infections of skin
|
Chronic Skin Diseases:-
Skin conditions include various rashes, diseases,
infections, injuries, growths, and cancers that
affect the skin.
These are some of the most common skin problems:
- Acne: pimples, blackheads,
whiteheads, and deeper lumps. Acne develops when
the skin makes too much oil and sheds dead cells
too fast. Bacteria mainly play a role.
- Athlete's foot: a fungal infection
on the foot which look red and peel, crack, flake,
or even blister. Sweaty feet and tight shoes
facilitate fungus to grow
- Eczema: a red, itchy rash
that often runs in families and accompanies allergies.
The patches tend to be dry, and the affected
skin may flake and thicken.
- Contact dermatitis: a red,
itchy rash that occurs when the skin comes into
contact with an allergen.
- Dandruff. flaking of the skin
on the scalp.
- Hives: pale red, swollen bumps
that occur in groups on the skin. Hives are usually
itchy, and they may also burn or sting. They
are caused when the body releases a chemical
called histamine as part of a reaction to such
things as foods, medications, insect bites, infections,
cold, or scratching of the skin.
- Irritant dermatitis: a red,
itchy rash that occurs when the skin comes into
contact with a harsh chemical. Examples of irritants
include strong soaps or detergents, plants and
industrial chemicals.
- Seborrheic dermatitis: a common
condition that causes red skin and greasy-looking
flakes, mainly on the scalp, on the sides of
the nose, between the eyebrows, on the eyelids,
behind the ears, or on the chest. it may occur
in those with acne or psoriasis.
- Moles: growths that can appear
anywhere on the skin. They are usually brown
and can have various shapes and sizes.
- Psoriasis: a long-lasting
skin disease caused when too many new cells are
produce, resulting in patches of red, thickened
skin covered with silvery flakes. It may result
from a problem with the immune system,
- Ringworm: a skin infection
caused by a fungus. Ringworm is marked by red,
itchy, ring-shaped patches that may be flake
or blister. It commonly affects the feet, scalp,
trunk, nails, and groin.
- Rosacea: a skin disease that
causes redness and swelling on the face that
may spread to the cheeks and chin. Small blood
vessels and tiny pimples may appear on or around
the red area. Fair-skinned adults, especially
women, are most likely to get rosacea.
- Shingles: a skin eruption
caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox.
It starts with pain or tingling on one side of
the body or face, followed by a red rash with
small blisters. After a person has chickenpox,
the virus may live on in the nerve cells and
come out years later as shingles. An episode
of shingles may last weeks.
- Skin cancer: the most common
of all types of cancer, including various kinds
of growths on the skin.
- Sunburn: the immediate result
of getting too much sun. The skin is injured,
just as if it had been burned by heat, and turns
red and painful. If the sunburn
is severe, blisters may form. The long-term effects
of sun damage include wrinkles, certain skin
bumps and spots, and skin cancer.

Considerations In Treating The Skin
Diseases:- |
|
It is not surprising that many things can go
wrong with an organ so big and complicated. Nearly
everyone has a skin problem at some point in life.
Such problems can affect anyone, from newborns
to older adults. Most of the times, the reason
for a skin disorder lies much beneath the skin's
surface. It is therefore vital to take into consideration
the physical as well as the mental factors causing
the conditions.
A majority of skin diseases are caused by nutrient
imbalances within the body. That's why first of
all high quality nutritional supplements should
be given to help prevent and treat skin
Alternative medicine strongly believes that skin
diseases are never just skin deep. Skin diseases
are considered as mere external expression of an
internally weak or imbalanced system.
To treat any chronic skin diseases requires a detailed
analysis of constitution and Emotional stress,
especially sudden psychological trauma and also
correction of hormonal imbalance.
Alternative medicine stimulates the body’s defense
mechanism thus enhancing the body’s ability to
heal itself from within.
We should optimize our defense mechanism. This
improves our immune system. Alternative medicines
provide natural healing which is curative & non–suppressive
in nature.
Alternative medicines remove the basic disposition
/sensitivity to develop any skin diseases. This
approach not only successfully removes the skin
diseases but also removes the possibility of development
of other hypersensitivity disorders
First we should optimize our defense mechanism & this
improves our immune system. Alternative medicines
provide natural healing which is curative & non–suppressive
in nature. Alternative treatment works at two levels.
At one level the medication is given with the aim
of providing symptomatic relief to control the disease
and make patient more comfortable. At another level
body constitution is also improved which gives long
term protection for skin . These medications vary
from person to person, depending on individual disposition.
Alternative treatment is invaluable to help skin
conditions, particularly when many other treatments
have been tried without success.
Alternative medicine removes the basic disposition
/sensitivity to develop any skin diseases. This
approach not only successfully removes the skin
diseases but also removes the possibility of development
of other hypersensitivity disorders in future.
Most skin treatments are generally external applications
like creams or oils. These, however, never reach
the deeper layers of the skin. As a result, the
symptoms disappear temporarily, and the disease
is not rooted out permanently. So condition develops
again.

A Chemical solution or chemexfoliation (Chemical
Peel) to improve and smoothen the texture of skin
by removing its damaged outer layers so that a
new skin layer can regenerate can never give good
results and cure. Same way Laser treatment which
removes the damaged outer layer of skin to cause
skin brightening and Rejuvenation does not get
to the root cause and same condition comes up again.
Alternative medicine always tries to root out the
disease by treating it specifically according to
its cause. As the skin disease is deep seated its
treatments by alternative medicine may take a few
weeks to remove the symptoms but the diseases are
cured permanently.
Wrong diet habit and lifestyle causes’ excess sugar
in the body also is a major cause of skin disorders.
The skin cells so affected by the excess sugar
provide an ideal breeding ground for the bacteria,
which multiply rapidly using these skin cells.
Alternative medicines counteract the excess sugar
and other toxins in the body. They combine with
the skin cells to inhibit multiplication of the
virus. The absence of a breeding ground results
in the elimination of the virus.
Other Lifestyle changes for maintaining healthy
skin include clean your body properly, do exercises
regularly, avoid excess sun exposure and chemical
based creams, keep your room pollution free. Avoid
extra amount of proteins and fat - difficult to
digest food and types of food which irritate your
skin.
Alternative medicines
are effective in treatment of Burns and Burn Scars,
Keloids & Keloid
Scars, Leukoderma
and Vitiligo, Psoriasis
and Eczema, Pregnancy
Scars and Stretch marks, Bedsores, Surgical
Scars, Itching, Sun
Burns, Skin
Rashes, Diabetic
Foot Ulcers, Chicken
Pox Scars etc. it can look
you young and vibrant.
Health lies on the relationship between mind & body,
as well as the relationship between the body & the
universe. When disruption of this relationship occurs,
body tries to restore equilibrium through the use
of homeostasis-(internal body reaction). Body tries
to neutralize the reactants. This produces the symptoms
and disease is generated. These vary from individual
to individual according to one’s constitution. Every
individual and patients handles the emotions of chronic
diseases treatment differently.

Chronic skin diseases are a very tragic and emotionally
damaging and painful experience.
Chronic skin diseases can be cured through combined approach of alternative
systems of medicine. One
will be amazed to see
the result after employing
various systems of medicine. This gives result
faster, with less suffering
and in economical way. Combined approach of various
alternative medicines
can cover a broad range
of healing philosophies,
approaches, and therapies
which will give definite
and good results.
The great thing about these alternative systems
of medicine is that they do not have
the health risks that some modern techniques
and medications have.
Alternative medicine also stimulates life energy within the body; so
complete cure from chronic skin diseases is possible. Alternative
medicinestimulates
healing on the physical,
emotional and spiritual
levels to restore vitality and creative engagement
in life. Healing
forces are present within the body, and alternative medicine assist the body’s
natural state of homeostasis and cooperate with bodies efforts to heal any
chronic skin diseases.
Great health is not only the
result of a healthy body, but also a healthy
mind, spirit and emotions. These 4 things – health,
mind, spirit and emotions - are all connected
to each other and when one doesn't perform at
its ultimate best, the rest will get affected
too.
“The Missing Link is within you. We can never obtain peace in the
outer world until we make peace with ourselves" - The
Dalai Lama

Rahim Husain Lakhani - psoriasis |
|
I am Rahim Husain Lakhani 35 years. I am working on lath machine since last 20 years I had history of tuberculosis of lung when I was 7 years old. Which was cured by taking medicines for 1 years then.
From 11 years of age I had started skin problem over my chest and then it spread all over body in 6 to 8 months. This was diagnosed as psoriasis after 1 year by senior skin experts. I also had eczema about 3” to 5“size on left foot. I had taken treatment from various skin specialists as well as ayurvedic, homeopathic and many doctors you can think of.
I had petroleum jelly, various ointments - creams containing coal tar, anthralin, steroid and the biologic drug. Phototherapy and ultraviolet radiation was also given to me. My disease become resistant to therapy and at times causes aggressive reactions of the condition. I was advised for treatment with anti cancerous drugs but I refused as cost was also prohibiting. Now I was totally exhausted from all aspects of life. I was told to experience flares and remissions throughout my life. My psoriasis requires lifelong therapy. I also did many rituals and religious methods to cure my psoriasis. I thought no cure in this life and disease will go with me to my funeral.
I was told by me near relative to consult Dr Prakash Shah. As usual I was hesitant as I had no cure by many specialists so how Dr Prakash Shah would cure me? But even than with hesitancy I started his treatment. I was reluctant to pay his fees also. On 10 Jan 2009, I started treatment. He gave me all alternative medicines (homeopathy / ayurvedic / naturopathic/ rackii/ biochemic/ hypnosis. on second visit after 2 months my 70% of the problem was solved. My psoriasis was melting like ice on heat. There was marked reduction on my eczema also. I continued his treatment for 6 months. Not only I have cure of all my skin problem by I am more confident and really in enjoyment of life which I never had since my childhood. Now I very confidently, advice all my relatives and friends, to go for combined approach of all alternative medicine for any of their chronic disease.
